Senior L3 Data Network R&S Consultant – Band 8

We are currently providing design, engineering, deployment & support services for enterprise Data networks for one of our Fortune 50 companies. Due to global expansion of our client base, we are seeking a Data L3 Engineer to join our team and help establish a best of breed solution for our customers. The right candidate will have a passion for designing, deploying, supporting and monitoring Data (Security & LAN/WAN) technologies in addition to someone who enjoys process improvement and collaborative thinking.
Current focus / customer base in the Pharmaceutical industry.
Particular need for a full-time candidate to perform day to day support services in a professional environment.
Primary responsibilities include:
Utilize IT Service Management tools such as ServiceNow and Remedy to track and resolve support requests.
Troubleshoot Data incidents. Respond to routing and switching configuration problems, infrastructure outages, etc.
Manage and contribute to Data Routing & Switching (LAN/WAN) support knowledge database. Document lessons learned and known support issues. Participate in root cause analysis studies.
Work with third party vendors including network carrier and cabling vendors to remediate wireless outages.
Take part in weekly meetings to review issues and project status.
Required Education, Experience and Technical skills
Bachelor’s Degree and/or 5 years of related experience
CCIE/CCNP certification and/or relevant Security & Routing / Switching certification.
5+ years of enterprise level network experience supporting Cisco wired and wireless technologies including Cisco routers, switches, controllers, and access points.
Proven hands-on experience with Family of Cisco routers (ISRs Gen2, 4Ks and ASRs), Cisco Switches (Catalyst 4500, 3850s and Nexus switches)
A senior understanding and experience of network design, troubleshooting, and customer interactions.
Proficient in VPN techniques and protocols. (IPSec,SSL)
Hands-on experience with Cisco ASA, NGFWs Architecture, Firepower 4100/9300, Cisco ISE, Cisco IDS/IPS, Gigamon, Bluecoat SGs, F5 BIG-IP LTM/GTMs, Juniper SA appliances
Proficient in IPv4 addressing and Variable Length Subnet Masking
Proficient in EIGRP and BGP routing
Basic Scripting (Python) and ACI, Meraki or other SDN skills is a plus
Strong understanding of the capabilities of common network infrastructure.
Understanding of WLAN technologies and their common deployment methods.
Strong knowledge of TCP/IP
Skilled at network troubleshooting.
Strong knowledge of configuration, show commands and debug commands associated with common Cisco equipment.
Ability to do network troubleshooting and analyze packet level data
Experience with monitoring tools.
Understanding of client/server systems a plus.
Soft skills required:
Excellent English communication skills including written and verbal.
Logical reasoning and troubleshooting skills
Ability to think and take correction action with limited direction.
Ability to take complex technical problems and organize them into actionable tasks.
Experience working out of a queue for support issues and complex service request through to completion.
Excellent organizational skills, interpersonal skills and self-learner.
Adaptable to new environments and assignments.
Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Visio
Ability to use reference materials such as user manuals, search results, and vendor support to install products or solve problems not experienced before
Ability to document and present each methodology with minimal supervision.
Ability to work occasional weekends /off-hours to resolve issues.
Willingness to participate in training sessions and team meetings.
